    HR AND BUSINESS ETHICS: LESSON FROM THE DOWNTURN

    The 2008-2009 financial crisis put business ethics back in the headlines, and we have to ask ourselves: What more can HR professionals do to create ethical business cultures that will deter questionable business practices in the future? This presentation looks at the six basic building blocks of a comprehensive business ethics program, the ethics requirements mandated by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and research data from several recent studies. This presentation addresses the research concerning Organizational Justice, its meaning and impact upon important organizational processes and outcomes such as selection, performance appraisal, and organizational commitment, and considers principles that can assist HR professionals in elevating the perceptions of fairness within their organizations. Participants will learn a methodology for determining:-The Vision of the future for the organization-Strategies for achieving the Vision-A means for Measuring progress-The most important Initiatives needed for change-Tools, techniques and methodologies for Implementing the changes needed-And most importantly a means for ongoing Monitoring of the entire process to ensure follow through to completion. This methodology will not generate documents that end up setting on the shelf gathering dust. Employees can become involved in implementing the changes needed for making for a successful business and more meaningful jobs.

    BUILDING TRUST: THE CORE VALUE THAT ADDS VALUE

    This session examines trust as a core value in organizations to be cultivated for increased overall effectiveness. Participants will discover how trust is developed and gain a better understanding of the main culprits that cause distrust. In this session, participants will be introduced to a model they can use to partner with their leadership team to instill trust as an organizational core value. Finally, participants will discover practical ways to incorporate trust as a behavioral expectation.
